This poem is not my idea,
after all Islamic banking was not a certain governor's idea,
neither is a 6years single term agenda for elected rulers the Number one man's idea.

I come with a message of hope for u today,
worry not about fuel subsidy, or unemployment,
and fear not the boko haram or boko malu,
just eat cassava bread, it will solve all your problems.
But if u eat it, and all the problem have not disappeared,
please accuse me not of falsehood,
advertising cassava bread was not my idea,
I got it from the chief chef of the federation.

They say they will spend close to a billion on security,
yet they also say we should be prepared to live with the burden of destruction and insecurity.
People are shouting, and asking why such insensitivity?
But we fail to realize that protecting us was not their idea of security.

Boko Haram was busy bombing churches on Christmas day
and a certain man we are supposed to trust with our lives was dancing away,
and people are accusing him of being insensitive,
well, I don't blame him, after all, him becoming a ruler, was not his idea.

Fuel is now gold,
and owning a car is fast becoming a luxury,
yet they say removal of fuel subsidy is for our benefit,
and that it will lead to development.
But we have heard that story before,
and have come to know that doing things for the citizen's benefit, is never their idea.

There is unemployment and poverty in the land,
good roads are now a mirage,
and its abnormal to have regular electricity,
and to top it all, removal of subsidy increased the already high cost of living.
yet our so called leaders are busy lining their pockets with public funds,
claiming its for our collective good.
Well, I don't blame them,
after all, we voted them there,
and they are showing us that serving us is not their idea of leadership.

We should not continue to look and hope things will change,
we have to initiate the change,
for the elected ones are clueless, greedy, selfish and unwilling to help us,
and it's said, Heaven help those who help themselves.
This is all I have to say,
I will leave the rest for another day,
but please note,
this poem is also not my idea.

Being different is as old as evolution,
for we are all people of varied origin and situation.
But diversity is never a basis for partiality,
for there can be uniformity in diversity.
Thus difference need not lead into confusion
but should guarantee and encourage co-operation.
especially in this world class organization,
that has no discrimination.

all we need is one love,
one love that fits our hearts like a glove.

They say what a man can do a woman can do it better.
But I wonder,
if a man has already done it, what is left for the woman to do?
However, it is hard to imagine a workplace without women,
for if men like the computer hardware,
then the women will be the software,
and the fact is, the hardware can’t function without the software.
Cos like the saying goes,
it takes two to make it work, and I can’t, if you won’t.

when the Liberian girl changed our world,

Tonite,
I can see it in your eyes,

so don't stop till u get enough.
U can act all dangerous,
or be a dirty Diana.
But before u start asking, who's bad?
well, u should know, I'm bad.
And I wanna rock with you,
cos u rocked my world and u know u did,
and everything I won, I give,

Life is like jumping into the river for the first time in your life and learning how to swim at the same time with the river’s strong currents and waves tossing you here and there, and you can’t seem to keep your head above water.

Life is like driving a car for the first time in your life, not knowing how and when to change gear, when to accelerate, when to slow down, when to make a u-turn and not even knowing when to brake.

Life is like getting into the boxing ring for the first time in your life, against a bigger opponent (or worse still, opponents), and fighting for as long as you can last.

Life is like a river………………
Are you struggling against river’s current or you are helplessly been tossed here and there by the currents, barely managing to stay afloat aiming for the shore, worse still you are drowning.
Hey...Christ is the life guard, call on Him, and He will answer you, and save you from the strong currents of life’s river and its many river falls.

Life is like driving……..
Are you out of control, or just speeding down life’s expressway not sure whether you are on the right lane or not. Maybe worse still, you don’t even know how to start the car.
Hey... call on God, He is the chief instructor, he will instruct you how to start this life’s car, how to maneuver round life’s expressway, potholes and pits, when to change gear, when to accelerate, when to slow down, and even when to brake.

Life is like the boxing ring…………….
Are you battered and bruised, or just dancing round the ring waiting and hoping the bell will ring thus ending the fight, or you feel you can go the distance all alone because you feel your raw power and determination will see you through. Maybe worse still, you are down and out, knocked out cold, hearing the referee count but can’t seems to muster the courage and strength to stand up.
Hey… call on Jesus, He is the chief coach, He will help you out. He will teach you how to box, how to weave, when to dodge, when to block, when to hit out and when to run. And if you are down and out, He will grant you the courage and strength to get up and fight. And you don’t have to depend on your raw power and determination alone, for he will be there to help you, encourage you, and strengthen you. But first you have to have faith in Him.

No matter your situation, be it in life’s river, life’s highway, or life’s boxing ring, wherever you may be and no matter how bad your case seems. Hey… “He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world”.
Just call on Christ Jesus, and believe in Him, hope in Him, depend on Him, and surely, all will be well with you. Amen

I wanted to be rich and famous,
With a name that is not anonymous,
To enjoy the best things in life,
Married to a beautiful wife.
Driving the best wonders on wheels,
and guaranteed of my daily meals.
So i looked up the list of professions,
But my mind was caught up in confusion,
Asking people for recommendation,
only help increased my heart's commotion.
i decided to think things through on my own,
so that the decision would be my own.
I thought long and hard on what to do,
But none of the professions I saw was cool.
My mind yearned for something as natural as nature,
That would relate to any culture.
I tried my hand at singing,
But of notes and lyrics I had no inkling
I tried to draw,
But it seems I had hands made of claws.
I tried to be a politician,
But it was not honest enough as the profession of a technician.
I tried my hand at boxing,
But I ended up with so much beating.
I tried dancing,
But I felt like a chicken flapping
I tried to be a teacher,
But got rejected by my own daughter.
I tried my hand at cooking,
but i seems to always cook what i was burning
Then I tried writing,
And I enjoyed it like kissing.
So I weighed my options,
With a view of solving my heart’s commotion.
I gave serious thought to be becoming a poet,
It made me feel like a flirt.
Could I really become famous by writing poems?
Is that not like getting high on petrol fumes?
What could I write about?
I asked people around.
I wrote about money,
But my lines were simply corny.
I wrote about love,
But I was still on love’s learning curve
I wrote about how to eat honey,
Well, at least my lines were pretty funny.
So I decided to just flow naturally,
Not letting my lines be done too carefully,
I stayed to enjoy myself,
This I must confess.
Thus writing became my passion,
though not yet my profession

From the world’s corruption.
He will surely give us his salvation,
After due considerations,

Which is the pathway to eternal damnation.
His free gift of salvation
Was paid for by his crucifixion
Thereby granting us justification from fear of rejection and condemnation,

And liberation from all forms of detention.
Thus he would unlimit our limitation,
Remove restrictions on our promotion,

And elevation in our professions.

Hi God, you know I have always being in love with you. Though it’s being like three months since I listened to you last, but I’ve been very busy. And it’s always like it’s me doing the talking at any time we get to communicate, but you understand now, I have so many things that need your urgent attention.
Yeah, I know, it’s even like when I need something that’s when I call on you.
Your book? You mean the one you want me to read always. Em…..well, I read it, but i………I kind of like don’t have time now, but I still glanced at it like 2 or 3 weeks ago.
I really try to always do what you say I should do, but it just seems I do what you say I shouldn’t do more.
Your place? Well………..i always have it in mind to come, but you know, that’s the only day of the week I have to myself; you know I have to do my laundry and some other stuffs, and get prepared for the working week.

The Car

I love cars,
I love to drive them,
To be in control,
Make them jump when I press the controls,
Make them honk and horn for joy,
Service them as often as I can,
And walk away when the joy of driving the car is over.
Thus I have driven many a cars,
And well, crashed a few too.

Saw a car I really would love to drive,
The windscreen is one of a special kind,
With nice and attractive headlights,
A glistening and well tuned body structure,
Solid and well oiled engine,
And with a lovely, attractive and well rounded trunk to match.
It is simply a masterpiece.
I have a lovely dark car of my own,
A true masterpiece too,
And I love my car.
But I still wanted this car too.
I knew I couldn’t drive it for as long as I would like,
But I still wanted to drive it.

I made my intentions known,
The car didn’t mind,
Cos there seems to be a void I could fill.
But was told the car had a driver,
And that I could tag along if that didn’t bother me
So I hopped into the passenger seat
Waiting, watching and biding my time.

After a long while of not getting a chance to be at the steering wheels,
I suddenly found myself at the back seat,
The back seat was full, over crowded and very uncomfortable
I stayed there for a while,
Hoping I could still make it into the driver’s seat, even if for a limited time.
But I had always lived my life according to simple rules

I was enjoying the ride no more,
I was enduring it,
Many a request I made was turned down,
And since I was not in control, I couldn’t afford to complain too much
So I still tried to enjoy it.
The back seat kept getting fuller, more crowded and more uncomfortable,
But the back seat was never a place meant for me,
I just had to get out
So I jumped out of the window,
No good byes, no reasons, no nothing.
I landed on my behind.
But I was happy I got out.

For a while my absence didn’t seem to be felt,
I also missed the warmth of the car,
I came to terms with the fact that,
I was probably being tolerated and not celebrated after all,
Then I noticed the brake lights were on,
And the reverse lights came on,
The car crept back,
Hesitant, but still crept back,
Didn’t ask why I got out,
And I didn’t bother to offer any explanation.

Now I stroll along the road with the car beside,
Would I get into the car again?
Well, maybe, or maybe not,
Or u know, on the condition that I get the driving seat,
But that would be selfish
Cos I can’t drive the car forever,
U know, I have a car of my own.
So now I walk,
Even though, I still would love to drive the car.

My head tells me, “She’s fine”.
My heart tells me, “Go for her”.
I want her…………..
My head tells me, “You can get her if you want to”.
My heart tells me, “It’s she or nobody else for you”.
I sense her………….
My head tells me, “She’s too fine for her own (or even anybody’s) good”.
My heart tells me, “Only the finest is good enough for you”.
I think about her………….
My head tells me, “She is like a magnet that attracts all sorts; guys, competition, rivalry, fights……………”.
My heart tells me, “This is once in a lifetime opportunity to get what you rightfully deserve; a beauty of a lady as your woman.

My head tells me, “Don’t be a fool, walk away while you still can”.
My heart tells me, “Carry go, no shaking”.
I call out to her, “……excuse me……”.

I said, “Hi”.
“Hello”, she replied.
“How are you doing?” I asked.
“Am fine”, she said.

“Nothing much, just chilling”.
“So.., , what you doing tonight?”
“Well, it depends on you”, she said, looking at me coyly.
“Well, lets go someplace, you know, take a bite, and drink, get to rub minds together,” I stated and added, “then maybe I’ll take you to know my place”.
“No problem”, she said and added, “But it will cost you”.
“What do you mean?” I asked, wondering what she meant by that statement.
“N1, 000 for a round, N1, 500 for two rounds, and N5, 000 for *T.D.B”, she replied smiling.
I move back startled, turned and walked away quickly.
